The Creative use of Domestic Garages

Domestic garages (Garagen) are typically used to store cars and other vehicles, however, many other uses are also possible. For example, many people around the world choose to use their garages for storage and work spaces, with lots of other creative uses also possible. A garage is designed for storing a vehicle or multiple vehicles, with the term garage often used synonymously with the term carport.
However, strictly speaking, garages and carports are really quite different, with carports not completely enclosed in their structure. In contrast, a garage describes a fully enclosed structure, and one that can normally be locked. Because of this, garages are typically very safe and secure structures, which enables them to be used for storage and office space.

Other than the storage of cars and other vehicles, garages are often used for the storage of possessions, office space, entertainment space, guest bedrooms, kids play areas, and general work areas. Even when a garage is needed to house a car, lots of people choose to purchase double garages so that they can utilise the extra space. Having access to a double garage means that you can store all of your extra possessions on your property, which avoids the need for additional storage containers and sheds. Many people who work from home have also managed to turn their domestic garage into a dedicated work space, and included computers, air conditioning, carpets, and other office equipment.

In many places around the world, it is not unusual to turn a domestic garage into a living space, with many garages transformed into bedrooms, entertainment areas, and living rooms. It can be much cheaper to build a prefabricated garage than it is to build an entire home, so this option is considered by people who are looking to save money during a build. When a garage is built alongside an existing home, it is often transformed into an extra bedroom or living area, where it can be furnished and styled much like a normal room. Garages are used all over the world, with many people getting creative and utilising their garage space for much more than simply storing their car.
